The gravitational wave field has a rich history of innovations with commercial impact and applications in industry and other sectors. OzGrav Chief Investigators already hold over 20 patents and have established 3 spin-off companies. OzGrav is committed to ensuring new technologies make it out of the lab and into the real world where they can make a lasting scientific, environmental or economic impact.
OzGrav's Research Translation program is led by Prof Rob Evans an OzGrav Chief Investigator at University of Melbourne and the Chair of our Research Translation Committee. Rob Evans is a Laureate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at The University of Melbourne. His research has ranged across many areas including theory and applications in industrial control, radar systems, signal processing and telecommunications. Prof Evans is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science (FAA), a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering (FTSE), and Fellow of the Institution of Engineers Australia (FIEAust) and a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (FIEEE).
